Experience the soft calls of the cuckoo bird with Rhythm's signature cuckoo clock movement. Produced in-house in Japan, it uses Washi, a firm yet flexible paper made from the fibers of various woody plants, to create a soothing, airy "cu-ckoo" sound every hour and half hour. It works similar to an accordion; as the Washi paper compresses, it pushes air out to create the sound. Many modern-day cuckoo clocks, even some German-made cuckoo clocks, use electronics to create a synthetic cuckoo sound. But Rhythm has followed their Japanese heritage to create a cuckoo clock that keeps up with today's standards and aesthetics while keeping the realistic sounds of tradition.
